The Chateau Mouton is a wine that is not best to drink on the young side because of its tannic and concentrated flavour reserved during its youthy. These young vintages can be decanted for an average of 3-6 hours, in order to allow the wine to soften and open its perfume. Older vintages might need less decanting, just enough time to remove the sediment usually suffices.

The chateau Mouton Rothschild is usually better with at least 15 years of bottle age, which can vary depending on the vintage character. Maturity is reached between 18 and 60 years of age after the vintage.
