On this culinary tour, sample some of Barcelona’s historical dishes, its vast and growing farm-to-table scene, and of course, its world-renowned cava cellars, wineries and vineyards. A local Catalonian Chef will guide you through all the aspects of the cuisine and its culture. We start with a welcome in the evening
Upon arrival in Barcelona your local chef will meet you in a restaurant for a welcome drink and tasty tapas. This is a great opportunity to get acclimatized to the amazing city you will be spending the next four days in, as well as meet the group you will be traveling with.
The second day will start with a food market tour in the morning. You will get an introduction to the local produce and ingredients, and gain rare insights into how Catalonians source their food on a day to day basis. From here, you will continue with your chef to his private kitchen where you will cook lunch together in an intimate and cosy atmosphere. Enjoy your delicious meal on a lovely patio set in the light mountain breeze. This will be followed by drinks and dessert on a private rooftop where you can soak up the most spectacular vistas of the city.
On day three, you will start with a drive out of the city to the luscious Penedes winemaking region, where the sun and the Mediterranean Sea influence the creation of an idyllic terrain for wine production. You will visit two vineyards where you will enjoy wine tastings.
Afterwards, you will drive back through the sun-drenched plains towards the city where Toni Simoes, a renowned Catalonian Chef, will welcome you into his kitchen. You will be seated in a private area with a perfect view of the action of the kitchen dinner service. You will then enjoy a sumptuous five-course dinner in the bustling yet intimate setting.
Day four will begin with a drive to the famous Priorat wine region. You will visit a leading winery set amid steep, terraced, vine-laden hills. You will be taken on a tour of the vineyard and winery, learning about the region’s wine production, as well as sampling the amazingly complex wines the rugged terrain produces. A traditional cooking class will follow in the winery, overlooking the rolling hills below. In the evening, you will have time to independently explore the city of Barcelona.
On day five, you will learn about Farm to Table cooking in an authentic Catalonian way. Learn how to best grow your produce and then pick and gather vegetables into your basket from the garden. You will then take your baskets into the kitchen to cook your own lunch with your Chef guiding you through the experience. Sit down to a rewarding lunch paired with fine Catalonian wine. End your day with a coffee in the inviting neighbourhood of Sarria, bordered by the city and Vallvidrera Park.
