Join us on our culinary adventure in Montenegro – the most undiscovered gem of the Balkans. Montenegro offers the perfect combination of beautiful beaches, cultural sights and impressive mountains. Add a bunch of fresh seafood, good local wines and friendly people to the mix and you have your perfect next holiday destination
During our Montenegro food tour, we’ll wander through old historic towns, we’ll enjoy some relaxing time on the Budva Riviera and we’ll meet plenty of local experts that we’ll introduce us into Montenegro’s fascinating cuisine. The Montenegrin cuisine has – thanks to the country’s geographical location – influences of the Serbian, Italian, Croatian & Turkish kitchen, making up for some flavourful dishes for us to explore.
Bodgorica & Budva
Our culinary tour will start in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica. From there, we will be transferred to Ada Bojana, a beautiful hidden spot on the delta of the river Bojana, in the south of Montenegro.
Here, we’ll be spending the night at a riverside cabin – with a sundeck overlooking the Bojana river. After our check-in, we’ll be picked up by a shuttle boat that will take us to a fish restaurant, where we’ll get our first experience with the local fresh seafood that Montenegro is famous for. In the evening, we can enjoy some drinks on the deck and enjoy the peace this area has to offer.
After breakfast with a view, we will meet the local chef for an outdoor cooking session. Today is all about fishing, and our local chef is happy to share his knowledge with us about wild-caught fish and seafood. The fish will be delivered by a local fisherman and we’ll learn how to prepare local dishes with it.
In the afternoon, we will have some time to relax on the beach, just located next to the cabin. Here, we offer some optional activities like kiteboarding or stand-up paddling. We end our afternoon with some sunset drinks and a barbecue on the beach.
Today we will visit an olive oil producer near Bar – the olive oil capital of Montenegro. The farm is tucked away in the hills overlooking the ocean, where we’ll get to enjoy a tasting of various olive oils.
Afterwards, we will drive up the beautiful coastline, where we’ll make a quick stop at Sv. Stevan and Budva to soak up the scenery. In Kotor, we will visit the old town and continue our journey to Perast, a picturesque small village in the bay. A boat will then drive us to an oyster farm, where we’ll help catching and preparing the oysters. Prepare yourself for the yummiest seafood – sunset views included.
Today, we will drive through the serpentine road to Nationalpark Lovcen. We will stop for a visit of a ham producer in the village of Njegusi and continue via the old royal capital Cetinje to experience the beauty of Lake Skadar.
For lunch, we will meet a local fisherman who will prepare for us the catch of the day. After lunch, we’ll have a walk to a small winery where we’ll visit the vineyards and have a tasting. Afterwards, we’ll return to our boutique hotel in Budva where we’ll enjoy a delicious and authentic farewell dinner.
Our last morning, we wake up in the beautiful city of Budva – so it would be a shame to not enjoy our breakfast with a beautiful view of the sea.
After this last indulging of the local cuisine, we’ll make our way back to Podgorica, where you can spend the day or prepare yourself for your return flight. Alternatively, you can also decide to extend your trip with a couple of days – we’re happy to help you find transport and some good places for you to enjoy.
